Hong Kong's skyline and Victoria Harbour glowing at night

香港 · Asia's World City

Hong Kong

Where the mountains meet the harbour and the neon never quite goes out. A photographic look at Asia's world city.

A thousand square kilometres of mountains, water, and skyline, where seven and a half million lives press together against one of the most dramatic harbours on earth.

維多利亞港

Victoria Harbour

One of the deepest natural maritime harbours in the world, ringed by a skyline that runs from Central across the water to Kowloon. Every night at eight the towers light up for the Symphony of Lights.

The classic view down from Victoria Peak.

太平山頂

The Peak

Ride the funicular tram up Victoria Peak for the postcard view: the harbour, the islands, and a wall of towers folding into the hills. The best vantage point on Hong Kong Island, and has been since 1888.

街頭

Streets & neon

Down at pavement level the city is louder: trams, signboards, markets, and dai pai dong steam. This is where Hong Kong actually happens.
